Jazz singer-songwriter Kat Reinhert touches the spirit and soul with Spark CD; geared for an August 21st release

PRESS RELEASE: Kat Reinhert, melds the harmonic and improvisational qualities of jazz with the acute attention to lyric and storytelling often found in popular music, on her latest album, Spark, creating an audio-hybrid treat for the ears. Set for release on Friday, August 21st, Spark is the culmination of four years of candid and sometimes painful songwriting.

Dealing with everything from love and shame to fear of success, Spark is a collection of 12 original songs and a bonus cover of Rush’s “Limelight.” With honesty and insight, she writes and interprets lyrics with wisdom beyond her years, creating beautiful, haunting, and charming stories that move past any limitation of the idioms. Reinhert’s goal was to create an album that was both poignant and hopeful, and highlights her growth as a songwriter.

She does not shy away from difficult subject matter – including reflecting on her divorce as well as shame and body image insecurities – and creates a delivery that engages the listener to make the journey with her. Reinhert also delves into her love affair with New York City and its undeniable energy. Enlisting the skill and expertise of David Cook as producer and pianist, along with her virtuosic band, Spark truly delivers, bringing a new energy and dynamic to Reinhert‘s growing body of work.

“I’m very proud of this album. Not only because of the content and themes it explores, but because of the music and arrangements that the musicians helped to create and shape as we’ve played together for the past four years. It's the kind of album I’ve always wanted to make.”

Kat is honored to have had so many dear friends and fellow musicians contribute to the album including vocalists: Jo Lawry (20 Feet from Stardom, Sting, Paul Simon); Sarah Tolar (Broadway, Bill Campbell); and Shayna Steele (Broadway, Bette Midler, Snarky Puppy); Guitar: Perry Smith (The New West Guitar Group); Bass: Sam Minaie (Tigran); Keys: David Cook (Lizz Wright, Taylor Swift); Drums: Ross Pederson (Lou Soloff, Grace Kelly, Nir Felder); Electric Bass: Julia Pederson (Guns & Hoses, Jay Stolar, Broadway); Cello: Jody Redhage (Rose and the Nightingale).

Reinhert, a sought after clinician, educator and voice teacher, specializing in contemporary styles is certified in Somatic Voicework ™ (a technique of vocal training that draws upon voice science and medicine, in order to unselfconsciously draw the mind of the singer into the physical process of making
the sound) and has gained many accolades for her ability to work with young singers and help them fulfill their goals. Most recently, Reinhert was appointed to the board of directors for the Association of Popular Music Education (APME).
