The name Dontae Winslow is well-known in the R&B circuit. As a producer and songwriter he has worked with and produced for some of R&B headliners including Jay-Z, Kanye West, Beyonce, Justin Timberlake, Musiq Soulchild and more.
On our feature today, Dontae wears the hat of jazz trumpeter as he gets ready to release his new CD entitled "Enter the Dynasty," scheduled for a February 11th release.
The CD's first release is a jazzy-soul track called "Summer Cookout", featuring fellow jazz trumpeter Roy Hargrove. Dontae describes his music as "bold, beautiful, soulful style of live instrumentation. The "Summer Cookout" track truly embodies the aforementioned definition.
The full CD will include performances by Chick Corea, Questlove, Dennis Chambers and Antonio Hart. Listeners can expect a combination of jazz, blues, funk, and even a bit of hip-hop.
If you are in New York on the night of February 18th, Dontae will be performing at IRIDIUM. Showtime is 8pm.
