George Duke and Dave Koz to headline Low Country Jazz Festival

My friend of 20 years Curtis Inabinett Jr. (pictured bottom right) text me a few days ago to express how excited he was to be a part of the Low Country Jazz Festival. The event will take place on August 30 - September 1st at the North Charleston Coliseum Performing Arts Center.

I went to the website and realized that Curt had given me some more information about the supporting acts that are scheduled to perform; information that isn't available on the website.

Of course, Curtis will be joined by his group CIA at the jazz festival. Curtis has been playing the South Carolina circuit for quite some time and has been a regular at quite a few of the local pubs.

This jazz festival isn't Curt's first rodeo either; he has once shared the stage with jazz and pop artists including Regina Belle at the Moja Arts Festival.

The festival, which is in its 5th year will also feature headliners like Dave Koz, Mindy Abair, Gerald Albright, Pamela Williams, Richard Elliot, George Duke, Karen Briggs and Stanley Clarke, Also scheduled to perform are Jeff Lorber, Randy Crawford, Joe Sample, and more.

I'm delighted to also hear that young jazz violinist Daniel D. will also be in the house. Daniel is a native of South Carolina and I had the privilege of interviewing him earlier this year where he talked about his new CD called "Epic Sounds". The Cd has a nice mix of music including covers of your favorite jazz and even pop tracks.

He has been touring a lot lately and judging from his music, he has a passion for the art.

Lots of jazz greats will be in the building; come out, support and enjoy.
