Check out the upcoming jazz festival events

There is an ample amount of jazz festivals in the air. Can you feel it yet?

Concert organizers are using the warm weather to their advantage by staging a lot of outdoor shows; you will have that opportunity to get out your lawn chairs, fill the cooler with some of your favorite drinks and head out to see some of the best in jazz perform.

I will be featuring some of the more popular jazz festivals that are coming up; I encourage you go out and support the jazz artists.

DETROIT JAZZ FESTIVAL

Other artists that will be performing include Joshua Redman, Ahmad Jamal, David Murray Big Band featuring Macy Gray and McCoy Tyner and his trio. Yellowjackets, Geri Allen, Gregory Porter, Freddie Cole, Aaron Diehl and Delfeayo Marsalis are also scheduled to perform among others.

HARTFORD JAZZ FESTIVAL
JULY 19TH - JULY 21ST

Hartford, Connecticut will host the annual jazz festival at Bushnell Park, downtown Hartford. I've been fortunate to attend a few times and they always have an impressive lineup. This year will be no different as there is much diversity in the festival which runs from July 19th to July 21st.

Carded to perform are Arturo Sandoval, Ed Byrne's Latin Jazz Evolution, Ace Livingston and Toscha Comeaux.  Bob Baldwin returns to the festival this year along with Walter Beasley; Tom Browne and sax player Eric Darius will also be there.
